
Dr. Duong Nguyen
(Orthopaedic Surgeon)
Dr. Nguyen completed his orthopaedic surgical training at one of the most respected programs in Canada, at the University of Western Ontario. He then pursued further subspecialty training in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine with a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the prestigious Columbia University / New York Orthopaedic Hospital. After practicing a few years in North Carolina, Dr. Nguyen has recently relocated to Toronto where he continues in his field of sub-specialization: Sports Medicine / Arthroscopic Shoulder, Elbow & Knee Surgery.
Dr. Nguyen has a busy sports medicine practice but also sees active individuals with osteoarthritis, as well as tendon, ligament and cartilage injuries. He enjoys working collaboratively with other health practitioners, treating patients of all ages from recreational and developing athletes to elite athletes, as well as active individuals and those wishing to become more active.
Research is an integral part of Dr. Nguyen’s practice. He reviews scientific articles for many academic journals and has presented his research at multiple national and international meetings. Dr. Nguyen has earned numerous research and teaching awards in recognition for his achievements in the advancement of orthopaedic knowledge and computer assisted surgery, as well as for outstanding leadership and dedication to medical education. He is actively involved in the training of new primary care physicians, sports medicine physicians and orthopaedic residents from the University of Toronto and McMaster University. In 2007, Dr. Nguyen was recognized as an Emerging Leader of the American Orthopaedic Association by Dr. Louis U. Bigliani.
He and his wife live in Toronto. They enjoy tennis, golf, as well as traveling.
