Virtual Physiotherapy

"I have received excellent physiotherapy services"

I have received excellent physiotherapy services from Sara, who has been my physiotherapist for the past 2 years or so. Recently, I tried ZOOM physiotherapy, which has also worked quite well for a shoulder injury.

- Karyn S.

"This is a huge life changing benefit to me."

After years of increasing knee pain and a trip to the doctor, I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis. Over 18 months of patient instruction (including many virtual appointments during the pandemic) I can once more enjoy running and skiing and I am pain-free for the majority of the time.

- Toby R.

"I highly recommend this clinic"

My daughter was a competitive dancer in the GTA and had a serious injury. When the pandemic started, they quickly moved to virtual appointments to keep everyone safe but kept giving the same professional, friendly and quality care she needed. I highly recommend this clinic, Sarah and Dr Kraft.

- Veronique M.

WHAT IS VIRTUAL PHYSIOTHERAPY?

Our virtual “Skype Style” virtual appointments are designed for ANYONE who is unable to make it to the clinic for an in-person appointment…or would like to reduce the number of in-person appointments.

Virtual physiotherapy eliminates the need for travel and connects you to a registered physiotherapist remotely via a screen (cell phone, tablet, or computer with a webcam) in your home for the same, quality appointment you would expect in person.

During your telehealth session, your registered physiotherapist will conduct a medical history, and perform a detailed assessment through observations, tests and movements.

We will diagnose your problem and create a treatment plan to help get you on the path to recovery.

Will Virtual Physiotherapy Work For You?

Virtual physiotherapy, also known as online physiotherapy or telerehab among other names, can be helpful for many people, including for these common reasons:

  • You prefer the convenience of services in the comfort of your home
  • Someone living in a remote community with no local clinic

6 Ways Online Physiotherapy Treatment Can Help

Through a secure video conference, your registered physiotherapist will:

  1. Assess your injury using observation, techniques, and movements (like in the clinic) to assess your strength, range of motion, posture, balance, stability…and more;
  2. Assessment of your problem;
  3. Provide you with guidance and advice on how to manage your injury;
  4. Provide a solid treatment plan to help you achieve your goals;
  5. Teach you self-treatment, exercises, and stretches that will reduce pain, muscle tightness, and joint stiffness;
  6. Help you stay on track with your exercise program;

How Does Virtual Physiotherapy Work?

Virtual physiotherapy makes it easy to keep up with your plan of care!

Through a secure video conference, you’ll be connected with one of our experienced physiotherapists. Your physiotherapist will perform a virtual physiotherapy assessment with you.

Your physiotherapist will ask you questions about your injury or problem, as well as your medical history, Your physiotherapist may also ask you to do a series of movements to assess your condition.

Based on the findings of this virtual physiotherapy assessment, an individualized treatment plan will be developed to meet your specific needs.

A virtual physiotherapy treatment program can be carried out over several sessions. Your physiotherapist will guide you on how often to book your appointments. Your treatment plan may include self-treatment techniques such as muscle release techniques or joint mobility techniques, as well as a home exercise program. A very important component of your recovery is education about your condition. This is something that will make up part of your telephysiotherapy treatment. It may include suggestions for making changes in your lifestyle and estimates of when you may be able to return to your regular daily routine, activities, and sports.

We can provide a variety of virtual treatments:

  • Physiotherapy for all types of injuries, aches, and pains
  • Post-Surgical Physiotherapy
  • Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
  • Vestibular Physiotherapy
  • Concussion Rehab (provided by Physiotherapists specializing in concussion)
  • Rehab Pilates & Yoga
  • Brace Consultations

All of our virtual physiotherapy treatment is provided by way of consultation, instructions, exercises, and monitoring. Our physiotherapists can observe the progress that is being made during each virtual session and progress the treatment plan as needed to ensure you reach your goals.

Pilates and Yoga may be something that is considered part of your treatment plan. If so, then our experienced instructors who specialize in these areas will be able to offer your virtual guidance. They will provide you with the instructions needed to carry out Pilates and Yoga based on your specific needs. They can observe you as you go through a session to ensure that you can do this correctly.
